TRUFFLES AND FOIE GRAS IN THE DORDOGNE

The trip to the Dordogne, February 2014, could not have been more spectacular.  We feasted on foie gras, truffles, duck, walnuts and much more EVERY day.Dordogne_1  We had 5 cooking classes, one in the Château de Puymartin, and several wine and market visits.  We visited Font de Gaume, one of the last prehistoric caves open to the public and had tours of Sarlat and Perigieux.  We also went to the ONLY truffle museum in France!!!

Nini the pig found 700g of truffles in one hour.  We cooked an all truffle meal and then dined with the chef on the only night the restaurant is closed.  For our Gala we ate magnificent poached foie gras!

“I am making chestnut pasta (which I bought at the Truffle Museum) with wild mushroom sauce tonight. Thought I might use truffle oil and a tad of the truffle!….”

“The Perigord trip was such a grand success and so carefully  thought out and/or adjusted to daily needs that I put it VERY high on our list of adventures.”Dordogne_2
